This is a column I wrote about Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel coming out as being transgender. I grew up in Gainesville, Fla., the birthplace of the band, and during my formative years had their albums in heavy rotation. I hope you all like it and learn something from it.

Let me just say, the best thing about this whole thing to me is how happy Laura seemed at the Revival Tour. Could have been nervous and upset knowing that she’d release the news soon, but she played confidently and smiled the whole time and seemed to be having as much fun as I had while singing along to those Against Me! songs.
